IEEE EMB Student Club of IIT Kharagpur Commemorates IEEE's 125 Years of Engineering the Future

IEEE EMB Workshop on Low Power Embedded Systems for Medical Applications Honors the Efforts of IEEE Members Globally

Kharagpur - Monday, June 15, 2009 - IEEE EMB Student Club of IIT Kharagpur flagged off festivities at Kharagpur to commemorate 125 years of IEEE by organizing a Workshop on Low Power Embedded Systems for Medical Applications, during June 13-14, 2009. IEEE is the world's leading professional association for the advancement of technology.

The IEEE EMB Student Club of IIT Kharagpur in association with the IEEE Kharagpur Section organized the Workshop on June 13-14, 2009. Event catered to the needs of students, faculty and young professionals working in the area of embedded systems for medical applications. Highly experienced people from industry who develop and popularize these technologies spoke at the event with live demonstrations. Minutes of the event have also been preserved on media, and are available to people round the globe through the web link present at the Club's web space - embsiitkgp.tk.

"For the last 125 years, IEEE members all over the world have made countless contributions to the field of science, engineering and technologies that have helped benefit a huge section of our fellow human beings across the continents," said Dr. Manjunatha M., the Faculty Advisor of the club. "Through this event, we recognize and celebrate these efforts and promote continued innovation in the area of technology in medicine."

Additional IEEE 125th Anniversary activities based on the  theme of Engineering the Future include: The IEEE  Presidents' Change the World Competition for students; a  video contest to show how technology has been used to  modify living spaces; launch of ieee125.org, a global  media effort highlighting emerging and world changing  technologies; and official unveiling of IEEE's global  Engineering the Future Day on 13 May 2009.
